24 of 24 people found the following review helpful Sturdy And Well-Made, October 1, 2011 This review is from: Aqua-Quest 100% Waterproof & Breathable Ultra Light Multi Season One Man Tent 'Single Pole Bivy' (Misc.) I do almost all my backpacking in the deserts of Southern California. As I go solo most the time I was looking for a lightweight bivy option, and one that was waterproof (I already have a pure mesh "bug bivy"). The Aqua Quest caught my eye because it was large - I'm 6'2, 260lbs so I need something with some shoulder girth. I purchased it and have been very happy with it. It's sturdy and well-made, almost completely waterproof - proven on it's maiden night out when an unexpected desert thunderstorm rolled in and soaked the area for hours. It has a no-see-um mesh top with a rain cover that zips over it when it rains. The "fly" simply folds down so you can just use it with the mesh on dry nights.
Being a single wall bivy a slight "film" of moisture did form where ever my bag touched the fabric, but nothing that was close to soaking my bag. Just a hint of moisture that was more sensed than felt, some might complain but it didn't bother me in the least and I use it as my 3... Read more

I got this bivy about 2 months ago and have used it a few times. I was kind of skeptical about getting this since there were not too many reviews but I went ahead and bought it.
Pro's
-Easy to setup
-Quality materials
-Window on top
-Waterproof
Con's
-Cheap stakes
-Condensation can get bad
I was going to rate this 4 stars because of the condensation issue, but it only happens during the winter. I was in an open field and the temperature got down to about 30 degrees. When I woke up, there was quite a bit of moisture on the walls of the tent due to condensation. This can be easily avoided if you create some ventilation whether you leave the top open or leave some of the zipper open. I slept like a baby in this thing and woke up to the rain. I stepped outside of the bivy and into a 1 inch deep puddle. The whole night I did not even know and for that, I give this 5 stars
9 of 9 people found the following review helpful great customer service, November 25, 2011 By This review is from: Aqua-Quest 100% Waterproof & Breathable Ultra Light Multi Season One Man Tent 'Single Pole Bivy' (Misc.) This bivy was given to me as a gift. I tried the black diamond bivy but it was to small. I am six foot tall and 285 pounds. This bivy is wider and is long enough so my head has room. The opening is large and access is easy. The net area is large and gives a great view and allows some cooling. There was some moisture on the inside in the morning due to condensation. It was expected with a single wall tent. No outside moisture got in during a rainstorm.
I broke the pole (my fault) and contacted Aqua quest about securing a replacement pole. The got back to me quickly. They ended up sending me a replacement pole free of charge.
Life in the bivy sack is warmer than in a tent and this allows me to carry a lighter sleeping bag. A con is on a really warm night, its really warm inside the bivy below the screened area.
It is light and uses little pack area. The price is good. Customer service is excellent.
